Susan’s Blog: Lapland - it’s not just for Christmas

The official hometown of Santa Claus is unquestionably synonymous with the ultimate in festive adventures for the kids, but a recent workshop with the wonderful Debbie from Not In The Guidebooks has opened my eyes to the endless possibilities in this majestic region of Finland.

It turns out that Lapland also offers the ultimate escapist getaway for two, where adventure and romance go hand-in-hand.

Here’s a taster:

How about four or five days focused entirely on you, with private use of the sauna and spa, a relaxing massage, and zero hassle, thanks to private transfers? Oh, and there’s always the possibility of sighting something a little out of the ordinary too.

Dine on traditional Finnish cuisine by a roaring open fire in the perfectly silent, snow-dusted forest, join a snowmobile safari and reindeer sledge ride, and a private Aurora hunt through the snowy wilderness by heated sleigh. You can even get up close and personal with the beautiful dogs on a fabulous husky safari.

Schedules are planned to ensure plenty of time to soak up all the magic of an arctic adventure as well as time to wrap up in a blanket and unwind in your accommodation for two, offering spectacular views of the night sky, scattered with stars and the otherworldly northern lights.

Options include glass-roofed Aurora suites, cosy glass-roofed igloos or an Arctic Treehouse Suite as seen on Apple TV’s “Reluctant Traveller with Eugene Levy”, each offering a unique blend of luxury and comfort with breathtakingly beautiful panoramic views in the heart of Arctic nature.

There are a variety of outstanding resorts and packages now available for next winter that work well with direct flights from a number of UK airports.

If you're looking for a memorable romantic experience that goes far beyond your average date night, please get in touch.
